Make your voice heard on our region's transportation network
Sacramento, CA (Apr. 5, 2023) - Residents in the greater Sacramento area have a chance to provide input on the future of our transportation network by taking a quick ten-minute survey or joining one of the two community workshops.
"This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a better transit system for the entire region. The ‘Regional Transit Network’ will provide a road map for the system, help connect transit operators, and get people to where they need to go," said Lauren Batalias, Senior Program Manager at Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG), "Community voices are critical to this process to ensure our transit system serves everyone.”
SACOG is a regional planning agency made up of Sacramento County, El Dorado County, Placer County, Sutter County, Yolo County, Yuba County and the cities located within in those counties. SACOG is primarily responsible for transportation and housing planning and helping the region meet its climate goals.
The ‘Regional Transportation Network’ project is not a redesign of the current transportation network but meant to complement and improve existing transit. View a corridor map here. SACOG staff will take feedback from the survey, which will provide a map of key connections, defined service types, and prioritized infrastructure improvements, and include it in the 2025 Blueprint. Formerly known as the MTP/SCS, the 2025 Blueprint is SACOG’s proposed plan for transportation, affordable housing and equitable investments that prepares the region for 2050.
“We are making great strides in addressing our climate goals at a state and local level but we have a long way to go. Improving our transportation network is another piece of the puzzle that will help us get to carbon zero in our region,” said Mayor Darrell Steinberg.
SACOG staff are hosting two virtual community workshops via Zoom. Project leads for the Regional Transit Network from project team will be sharing information and hearing feedback.
