Sacramento Regional Emergency Notification System

In times of disaster, it is important to pay close attention to the warnings and alerts you may receive. To ensure that you are in the know, sign up for emergency alerts from Sacramento Alert and get location-based emergency broadcasts & information straight to your phone.

The alerts will be displayed on phones as 833-422-5253. Remember to save this number in your phone as “Emergency Alert” so you can recognize the critical alerts. Learn more below or dial 2-1-1.

Host Homes

Sacramento LGBT Community Center’s Host Home program serves transitional-aged youth who are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of becoming unhoused by matching them with community members in the Sacramento area who can provide housing within their home for 4-6 months. During their stay, youth participate in one-on-one case management, educational workshops, and receive employment resources.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the local nonprofit organization Albie Aware can help you in getting a breast cancer screening and/or with treatment.

In the US, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Black women are 41% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women. The leading cancer death among Latina/Hispanic women living in the U.S. in breast cancer. These statistics show why it’s important to get breast cancer screenings annually, as when breast cancer is detected and treated early, the chances of survival of very high.
