Now there are even more ways to connect with Mayor Steinberg and his staff. Here's how:

Sacramento, CA (Jan. 25, 2023) - This Saturday, and at least once a month for the next two years, Mayor Darrell Steinberg will be hosting town hall discussions throughout Sacramento.

Mayor Steinberg at an arts town hall hosted by Atrium 916 in 2019.

“I work for you, and these town halls are a great way for me to hear directly from you about what’s happening in your neighborhoods,” Mayor Steinberg said.

The first town hall is Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at West Campus High School in the cafeteria. The location was chosen because a portion of the Colonial Heights neighborhood falls into a “deferred area.” A quirk in the redistricting process means this neighborhood and some others throughout the city will have Mayor Steinberg as their direct City Council representative for the next two years. These “deferred” neighborhoods will vote for their new representative in 2024.

Even though the first town hall is centered in the Colonial Heights neighborhood, it is open to all residents. RSVPs are recommended because space is limited.

Staff and interns from the Mayor’s Office of Community Engagement

Mayor Steinberg’s Office of Community Engagement (MOCE) is also hosting community office hours and community coffees in neighborhoods in addition to the town halls. MOCE has created a new page on the mayor’s website, engagesac.org/events, where dates, locations, and times for all of the town halls and community office hours will be listed.

The first office hours will be held at La Cosecha in Cesar Chavez Plaza on Jan. 31 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM and is meant for folks who work downtown to stop by on their lunch break.

“We want to be as available as we can out in the community. If you can’t make a town hall, come to the office hours, if you can’t make the office hours, email us or call us. We’re here for you,” said Chinua Rhodes, Director of Community Engagement for the mayor.

On top of having his own events page for office hours and town hall meetings, Mayor Steinberg also has the “The Steinboard,” a crowd-sourced digital corkboard for community events, service opportunities, resources, and informational updates. Organizations interested in having their events or programs shared on the Steinboard can email engage@cityofsacramento.org to request a posting.
