OnwardCa.org

OnwardCa.org is a one-stop resource providing support to people impacted by job loss in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Displaced workers looking for help can:

  • Get connected to emergency resources

  • Get connected to training programs to upskill for a new career

  • Get matched with employers looking for people with their current skill set

Both individuals and employers are eligible to use OnwardCa.org. Volunteers are also welcome to register with the site online. In an effort to ensure as many resources as possible are available for reference, local job centers, job assistance organizations and job training organizations are encouraged to reach out to OnwardCa.org through their website to have their listings added to the site.

The site is mobile accessible and only requires a few simple questions to register. For individuals, once you have registered, you will have access to a centralized online source of information for displaced workers including introductions to employers that are hiring and help navigating training and accessing emergency services.

OnwardCA.org is a collaborative effort between the California state government and more than 100 private-sector companies including, Bitwise Industries, the Kapor Center, Salesforce.com, Shift3 Technologies, Indeed.com and LinkedIn.com, to help lift the state during its time of need and connect people with employers that are hiring right now.

Sacramento Works

Job Centers

Currently, Sacramento Works’ physical job centers are closed to the public to align with federal, state and local guidance on COVID-19 safety. However, staff at the centers are continuing to provide services to customers by phone and electronic communication.

The team at Sacramento Works can help you access immediate life necessities such as emergency food, shelter, and transportation. They also have staff specialized in programming for youth between the ages 16-24 and staff to help you access and navigate unemployment insurance claims, and a long list of other employment -related resources.

Online Learning

Sacramento Works offers their clients virtual training during the stay home order through Metrix Learning. Once an individual signs up they will have access to over 5000+ courses in popular industries like IT, Business, Healthcare, and more.
