Mayor's Gallery - May 2023: Henry Parada’s “Four Geometric Figures”

Henry Parada poses with his piece hung in the Mayor’s office.

Sacramento, CA (May 16, 2023) – For the month of May, the Mayor’s Gallery is featuring “Four Geometric Figures,” by Henry Parada.

This piece is part of a series titled “Chroma Slides,” and is featured as part of an ongoing exhibition in the Mayor’s office at City Hall.

In a desire to get less “lineal” by playing with wood pieces rather than lines, Parada created a series of works with designs that generate dynamism and multidimensionality.

Born in Venezuela in the 1950s, Parada was interested in art from an early age, but he pursued a career in chemistry. After he completed his studies and began his professional career, he was exposed to modern works of art exhibited throughout the landscape at the Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Cientificas. Parada began to experiment with combining his scientific studies with his own artistic expression and trained himself in the arts.

Eventually he emigrated to the United States in 2002 and began to fully devote his time to art in 2005. Since then, he has focused on acquiring more art education and experimenting with different materials to create meticulous, detail-oriented works. He currently resides in West Sacramento, California, where he continues to create beautiful works of art.
