Sacramento Sneak Peek: Critically Acclaimed Documentary, 26.2 to Life

  • Crest Theatre 1013 K Street Sacramento, CA, 95814 United States (map)

Join us for the exclusive Sacramento premiere of this award-winning film, presented by Darrell Steinberg, Sacramento Mayor and Co-Chair of San Quentin Rehabilitation Center Committee and the Honorable Mark Leno, former CA State Senator, Committee of Public Safety.

Filmed inside San Quentin State Prison, this is not a glitzy, made-for-Hollywood Shawshank Redemption. It is gritty real life. This film doesn't shy away from the dark experiences or the violence that led the men of the 1,000 Mile Club to prison. But it is, most of all, a story of hope and compassion that shows us a path toward second chances and true rehabilitation. The mental discipline of running a marathon inside San Quentin—105 grueling laps around the exercise yard—and the motivational caring of volunteer running coaches from the community—provide hope. Together, the incarcerated and coaches are taking a real-life journey toward freedom, stride for stride, without ever leaving the prison walls.

There is proof that giving a helping hand to the incarcerated who are working to change their lives pays off. Of the dozens of 1,000 Mile Club runners—lifers, all—who have been released from San Quentin, non have returned to prison. That is an astounding recidivism rate of Zero Percent.

We believe that 26.2 to Life is one of the most impactful and truthful films in years that gives us some insight into achieving our goals of reducing incarceration by giving inmates the tools and the motivation to lead lives as productive citizens in the community.

We hope you will join us.

Doors open at 5:30PM. Screening at 6PM. Reserve your free seat now.
