Mayor's Gallery - May 2024: Franceska Gamez's “Visions of Mary”
Sacramento (May 10, 2024) - The Mayor’s Gallery is featuring “Visions of Mary” by Franceska Gamez for the month of May.
Born in Manila and raised in the Bay Area, Gamez now resides in Sacramento where she practices in mixed media sculptures and mural painting. Upon receiving her degree in Fine Art at California State University Sacramento, she has continued to dedicate herself full time to her trade. Her skill and willful practice in the arts have resulted in dynamic bouts in installation, carpentry, writing, curation, art preservation, and project management.
One of the unique components of this work is the use of augmented reality to add additional depth to the piece. Scanning the QR code and then viewing the piece through an Instagram filter, you see a completely different part of the artwork.
Gamez has murals located throughout California, Washington DC, and overseas in Bali, Amsterdam, and Barcelona. She also has work locally at the Met High School, Art Street and Art Hotel. Along with being a full-time artist, she is currently the co-founder of 1810 Gallery and member of M5 Arts Collective. Gamez uses both organizations to further drive her passion in the arts and advocate for artists like herself.
