City of Festivals grants now open to support community events across Sacramento
Sacramento (April 2, 2024) - The City of Sacramento is now accepting applications for its City of Festivals program, aimed at supporting special events taking place within the city from June 15 to Oct. 31.
Individuals and organizations interested in hosting events within Sacramento are encouraged to apply for these grants, with applications due by April 30.
“We’re thrilled to continue our support for these community-driven events throughout Sacramento,” said Sabrina Tefft, the City’s program manager. “These gatherings not only stimulate our local economy but also enrich the city’s livability for all residents. It promises to be a year packed with diverse activities for everyone.”
In its previous rounds, the City has awarded funding to support 119 city-wide and community events.
The maximum grant award is $7,500. To ensure equitable distribution of resources and assistance across the city, $30,000 has been earmarked for each council district.
To qualify, the special events must be consistent with family-oriented themes, support arts and cultural entertainment and activities, promote a healthier living environment and enhance the quality of life in the city.
Grant funds may be used to pay costs incurred in connection with the special event, including City costs for police services, parking and permits, and other event expenditures such as private security, portable restrooms, and event fencing.
Funding for the City of Festivals program comes from the $8.2 million in American Rescue Plan Funds for small business priorities as part of the City Council approved ARP spending framework.
Those interested in applying for City of Festivals grants can find all eligibility criteria and details on the City’s website.
