Pops in the Park is back! Here's what you need to know
Sacramento, CA (June 2, 2023) - One of Sacramento’s most popular neighborhood events returns Saturday, June 3, and will continue each weekend in June.
The Office of Mayor Darrell Steinberg, former City Councilmember Jeff Harris, and Friends of East Sacramento are presenting concerts every Saturday in different East Sacramento parks.
“I am thrilled to co-host this year’s Pops in the Park events,” said Mayor Darrell Steinberg, “Any time we can get the community together in a safe, family friendly and fun setting, its worth all the hard work it takes to put these events on.”
This year’s Pops in the Park events are:
June 3, East Portal Park featuring music from Ideateam
June 10, Bertha Henschel Park featuring music from Rod Stinson Band
June 17, McKinley Park featuring music from Joy and Madness
June 24, Glenn Hall Park featuring music from Hipper Than Hip
Music for each event begins at 6 P.M. and lasts till 9 P.M.
Guests should bring a chair or a blanket to sit on and get ready to enjoy some great music. Food will be available for purchase. Casa Tulum will have a rotating menu for each event and the East Sacramento/Midtown KIWANIS club will be grilling burgers and hot dogs and making tri-tip sandwiches.
Beer and wine is also available from SacYard Community Tap House with many local favorites on draft.
Pops in the Park was started 31 years ago by then councilmember Josh Pane and expanded by councilmembers Steve Cohn and Jeff Harris with a commitment to providing family-friendly entertainment and creating a platform for local musicians.
“Pops in the Park is all about supporting the community,” Harris said. “We showcase local businesses, hire local artists, and have a great time as well. Pops is a non-profit, and any money left over after production goes towards park and neighborhood beautification projects.”
