Hybrid workers: Here's how you can park in Sacramento garages for as little as $3 a day

Sacramento (Nov. 14, 2022) A new, online reservation system is offering steep discounts on daily parking in city garages.

The City of Sacramento launched the system about eight months ago in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the move by state government to allow employees to work partially in the office and partially at home. Hybrid work schedules mean formerly coveted monthly parking passes often don’t make financial sense, and daily parking deals increase the appeal of coming to the office.

The city system, at reserve.sacpark.org, allows users to check the availability of parking in the city’s five garages up to a week in advance and make a reservation. Depending on demand, the city offers deep discounts from the official daily rate of $25 — often as low as $3.

“What we’ve done is removed the question mark of where you’re going to park,” said Matt Eierman, Parking Services Manager for the City of Sacramento.  “For the first time in three years, city-owned garages are starting to fill up, and we want to provide flexible solutions to peoples’ complex work schedules without having them buy a more costly monthly pass.”
