Mayor Darrell Steinberg held a press availability Wednesday in advance of the 5 p.m. virtual Council meeting at which he will present his proposals for a new independent inspector general to review use of force by police and also the creation of a new corps of mental health and social workers to take non-crime related calls. The mayor is also expected to answer questions about Gov. Newsom’s new orders to contain Covid-19.
