Sacramento, CA (December 20 , 2023) – The Mayor’s Gallery is featuring, “The Hoodoos” by Cheryl Gleason for the month of December.

The Hoodoos is an oil and cold wax on cradled panel, inspired by the natural rock formation of the same name in Bryce Canyon National Park. Oil and cold wax makes up the majority of Gleason’s work although she has worked in other mediums as well.

Gleason has always loved art, and began sketching at an early age. Gleason in her bio writes about how art challenged her in a way that other classes did not leading her to study art at university.

Gleason graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Fine Art and a minor in Art History. While changing career paths after college to focus more on her own art, Gleason gradually settled in with a community of artists in Rancho Cordova that shared her passion.

In 2018, Gleason created and currently curates The Mills Station Arts & Culture Center or MACC in the City of Rancho Cordova.
