Sacramento, CA (September 26, 2023) – For the month of September, the Mayor’s Gallery is featuring “Border Lands” by Jeff Myers.

Myers' inspiration for “Border Lands” and the series of paintings that followed started almost a decade ago. Although living in Brooklyn, New York at the time, Myers would take frequent trips back to Sacramento, where he began to paint outdoors in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. During this time in the field, Myers became increasingly aware of agricultural machines and, one day, started to paint the form of the tractor itself.

“It has been a pleasure and privilege to create these paintings of rural-agricultural environments,” Myers said.

Due to dyslexia, Myers struggled greatly in the public education system and created his own path for learning. He enrolled himself in college courses at UC Davis, Sacramento State and Sacramento City College. Renowned artist Wayne Thiebaud mentored Myers early in his career and remained friends with him throughout his life. Myers began exhibiting at the age of 15 and debuted his first solo show at the Michael Himovitz Gallery at age 19.

With over 25 years working as a full-time artist, Myers' paintings and photographs have been published and written about over 70 times nationally and locally, including in National Geographic, National Wildlife, and Animals Magazine of London.

Myers continues to exhibit across the country and has a national following.
