'You are uplifting our spirits and hopes when we need it most.' Mayor celebrates new Sacramento Police Academy graduates
Following a moment of silence in memory of Officer Tara O’Sullivan, the recent Sacramento Police Academy shot and killed in the line of duty Wednesday night, 56 new recruits received their badges Thursday evening in a graduation ceremony at Memorial Auditorium.
Among those who crossed the stage was Miller Greenfield, 11, who fulfilled his dream of becoming a Sacramento Police officer through the generosity of Chief Daniel Hahn and the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Miller suffers from a rare degenerative disease.
Mayor Darrell Steinberg joined members of the Sacramento City Council and other community leaders in celebrating their achievements.
