From March 2019 to November 2019 a series of nine sculptures from famed Mexican artist Jorge Marín will be on display in three locations in downtown Sacramento. Four sculptures will be placed in a row on Capitol Mall between 8th and 9th streets. The other five sculptures will be placed between L street and J Street along 11th street in Cathedral Square.

The nine bronze sculptures were originally exhibited on the Paseo de la Reforma in Mexico City. Since the original exhibition the individual pieces have been exhibited in Tel-Aviv, Berlin, Singapore, Quebec, San Jose, Los Angeles, Madrid, Cairo, Kuwait, Bangkok, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Baku, Izmir, Ankara, and Abu Dhabi.

Each sculpture is meant to start a dialogue with the spectator and evoke idealization of concepts related to the spiritual virtues of humankind. The piece Wings of Mexico encourages the viewer to stand in front of the wings and interact with the art in a way that is meant to express freedom and a defiance of gravity.
