By April 1, 2020, every household in the country should receive an invitation to be counted in the 2020 Census. A complete count is essential because the official population numbers determine funding for critical programs at the federal, state and local levels. They also dictate where county lines are drawn and how political representatives are distributed, which is why the Sacramento Region Community Foundation has launched the “Count on Us 2020” census website.

The website contains a wealth of information on what the census is, why it’s important to be counted and how to participate. It also features articles on community outreach and census jobs. Keep checking in with us here to stay up to date on local census news and to read profiles on the people leading the effort to make sure everyone in the Sacramento region is included.

The newly-launched website focuses on the importance of counting every individual, particularly those who are members of hard-to-count populations.
