Sacramento firefighters pitch in to battle big Northern California blazes
Firefighters from the Sacramento Fire Department have fanned out across Northern California in the past few weeks to help battle the ferocious wildfires burning within a few hours of Sacramento.
Two Sacramento Fire engines, each with a four-person crew, are on the ground at the Ferguson Fire burning in and around Yosemite National Park and the Mendocino Fire Complex, which this week became the first California fire in recorded history to consume more than 300,000 acres.
Another five members of the Sacramento Fire team are helping out in overhead positions such as Safety Officer, Public Information Officer and Supply.
